April 22 at 19.00 Moscow time in Russia was holding a rally in support of the free Internet in connection with the blocking of Telegram. At the appointed time thousands of Russians released paper airplanes from the windows of their flats.

Almost all major Russian cities joined the action. In Russia, users began to spread in social networks photos of their airplanes. In Instagram launched hashtag #телеграмживи, under this hashtag at the moment published more than 1600 photos and videos.

The next day the administration of the Messenger thanked the users for their active civic position and asked them to collect the paper airplanes in order not to pollute the environment. The creator of “Telegram” Pavel Durov with the same request addressed to the participants of the action.

Recall that since April 16, Telegram has been blocked on the territory of Russia, following the relevant decision of the Moscow Tagansky Court. Nevertheless, for most Russians, Telegram messenger continues to work, albeit with some interruptions.
